Information SkillsFor this project, we were assigned two elements from the periodic table. We had to research each of the them and then design a shirt with all of the information on it. The information we needed to find included our element’s texture, melting and boiling point, discoverer, electron configuration, and much more.

Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
This project addressed my informational skills, specifically using relevant computer and handheld technology and a variety of appropriate research methods. I feel this because we had research lots of information from a variety of sources to be able to gather everything that we needed to know onto the shirt.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
I am most proud of the theme that I created and designed for both shirts. It wasn’t a required part of the assignment but I really wanted to try and create a shirt that might look like something someone could actually wear.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skills with this assignment?
I improved my informational skills by having to learn to use a wide amount of sources to find all of the information I needed.
What was most difficult about completing this task?
The most challenging part of this project was ironing the transfer paper onto the shirt for the first time. I burnt one of the pieces and didn’t iron other for long enough, causing parts of them to fall apart or off.
How could you improve this work?
I learned from all of the mistakes that i made making the first shirt so with the second one I really feel as though there isn’t anything major that I could have improved realistically.
If you could start over, what would you do different?
This is a funny question for this project because I did start over. I didn’t scrap the first shirt but I did choose to make a second shirt rather than put the remaining element’s information on the back of the first one. For the second one, I made sure that I had all of the information, I slightly improved the design, and I made absolutely sure that there weren’t any errors with transferring the prints.
How can you apply this to future learning?
This project taught me that information doesn’t have to be so dry. It showed me that there are many ways that information can be shown and even taught then what we’re commonly used to.
