Self-Directional Skills
This semester I'm continuing to take German on Rosetta Stone. Since Rosetta Stone offers almost exactly 120 hours (a full high school credit) of learning, I split it into two parts so that I could get half a credit last year and another one this year. The class still isn't too challenging since I'm already fluent in German. However, it's still useful because it helps me to practice my German rather than forget it and I still learn and practice the grammar. Next semester I will continue working on my German by preparing for the the Goethe C1 German test. It "certifies that candidates have acquired very advanced language skills" and is also required to go to most colleges in Switzerland.
German class on Rosetta Stone
Reflection
Taking German has always challenged my self-directional skills, not only because it's self-paced and online, but also because I've continued taking German throughout all of high school even though I already have plenty of language/art credits. Even though the classes themselves haven't been that hard they've helped me maintain my skills and will make studying for the C1 Exam much easier. It has been challenging for me to work on this class consistently and my current strategy is to work on it when I'm bored rather than watching YouTube or TikTok, which has worked surprisingly well.
